According to Moonalice legend, Mark Twain once spoke from this stage, sharing pearls of wisdom a century ago that describe perfectly the world we inhabit today. He said,
Suppose you were an idiot, and suppose you were a member of Congress; but I repeat myself.
Tonight's poster by Norfolk native Dave Hunter underscores the undying wisdom so often shared by Twain:
In the first place, God made idiots. That was for practice. Then he made school boards.
But our personal favorite is this quote:
Whenever you find yourself on the side of the majority, it is time to pause and reflect.
We haven't yet met the ghost that lives here, but if we do, we know who we're gonna call ... Mr. Twain. As he so famously said:
It is better to keep your mouth closed and let people think you are a fool than to open it and remove all doubt.
